More than 70 percent of IoT devices are vulnerable to cyber attack (source: HP), yet a majority of businesses do not plan to take steps to secure and protect IoT applications in the next 12 months (source: PWC). New and emerging cyber risks due to increased cloud exposure and more sophisticated hackers is expected to continue to wreak havoc on these businesses if not properly addressed, making it ever more important for organizations to strengthen their security posture before a cyber breach occurs.
In this session, Ken Modeste, principal engineer and cybersecurity lead at UL – which has developed a standard security certification for IoT products to mitigate the safety and performance risks inherent in these growing connected technologies – will outline the cyber risks and solutions available to IoT product manufacturers and businesses across a variety of vertical sectors. The presentation will cover supply chain implications, measurement of IoT cybersecurity effectiveness, and best practices for establishing ongoing assurance of these systems, including how proactive measures can enable innovation and global market acceptance.
